Oh, I can relate to this...
Those quotes are great. I'm going to put them in my quote file. The one by Madeleine L'Engle reminds me of another thought I recently blog posted and was thinking about... How "just because someone doesn't LOVE US the way we think they should, doesn't mean they don't love us with ALL THEY HAVE." - works with expectations as well - just because they may not perform to the level or expectation WE HAVE - doesn't mean they aren't DOING THEIR BEST.
It is hard though - especially when what we want (expect) are good things/good for them etc.. Hard to balance that and find the medium. Still working on it myself and will be probably my entire life. I love learning this stuff though, and I can tell you do too.
