"What's Lagoon?"

I had to chuckle the other day when Sophie asked this question as we walked passed a store window advertising discounted Lagoon tickets. I know, she's probably the only 8-year old in the state who hasn't even heard of Lagoon, and I'm sure my kids are missing out on a quintessential Utah experience because their parents have absolutely no interest in taking them to amusement parks. The crowds, the heat, the rides, the noise . . . ugh, not our favorite. I don't mind Disneyland and California (that's me - don't ask Chris, he just tolerates Disneyland), it's more of an experience for the kids and it's REALLY clean, and we also try to go off season to miss the crowds. But Lagoon, no interest.

I haven't been since 9th grade Lagoon Day and Ryan finally went for his FIRST time last summer with a group of friends. Caroline still hasn't been (she reminds me every summer), and apparently the two youngest kids don't even know it exists! We hope to keep it that way ;-).

Yeah, not much of a Lagoon person myself. Someone mentioned it to my kids this year (my mom or my sister) and they've been asking to go.

I will totally take them, Julie!

A better time to go to Lagoon to avoid heat & crowds is for 'Frightmares' each weekend the month of October. We started doing that - even going just for the evening - it was really fun.

I second your dislike of Lagoon, not a fan either. I hope to keep my kids away from it too.

I love Disneyland, but my husband doesn't even tolerate it - he's never even been (but he has heard of it)... LOL

Don't even get me started on Lagoon. UGH. I tell my kids it's the Wal Mart of amusement parks. ;)

Julie,
I love Disney World but can not stand amusement parks in general. My boys a few times during the summer asked if we could go to "SeaBreeze" which is probably like your "Lagoon". Thank God this year my neighborhood scheduled the outing for the day we left for the Outer Banks, NC and my boys could not have cared less they were to excited for the beach! I hope I am as lucky next year!
Namaste,
Joan
